According to an August 5th release by the USDA, $300 million will be assigned to the Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP). In 2023, the USDA received $1.2 billion from the Commodity Credit Corporation to establish RAPP with the objective of expanding exports beyond traditional markets comprising China, Mexico and Canada.
According to Deputy Agriculture Secretary, Xochitl Torres Small, “Access to international markets supports U.S. farmers at home and contributes to food security throughout the world.” She added, “Given the importance of exports in supporting farm income and rural economic development, we are able to make an additional $300 million available this year.”
