Health Officials in Ireland have advised consumers to thoroughly cook duck eggs to destroy potential Salmonella contamination. In Ireland duck eggs are available commercially and are used in baking. Traceback from five patients at the end of July resulted in a recall of duck eggs produced by Slaney Farm in County Carlow.

Based on risks of infection The Food Safety Authority of Ireland strongly recommends thorough cooking and hygienic practices during food preparation to avoid cross contamination in domestic and institutional kitchens.
