In acknowledging the deficiencies and unreliability of the electric power grid in Texas and the consequences of electrical failure, Walmart and H-E-B are installing gas-powered electric generators at stores. This initiative follows the lead of hospitals and assisted-living facilities.

To respond to unreliability associated with deregulation, H-E-B has installed solar panels on sixty stores to contribute to sustainability and reduce reliance on a range of Texas utilities including CenterPoint, AEP, Oncor and other suppliers.
