The World Animal Biosecurity Association (WABA), has been founded by Dr. Jean-Pierre Vaillancourt. The current mission statement of the organization is:
- To be a recognized reference on animal biosecurity by promoting the creation and transfer of knowledge,
- To advance the science and practice of animal infectious disease prevention and control,
- To enhance sustainable animal, environmental and public health
The objectives of WABA will be to:-
- Provide an international forum dedicated to animal biosecurity
- Provide opportunities for members to share information and collaborate on projects
- Develop international standards related to biosecurity
- Serve as a repository of information regarding biosecurity, research and funding of training programs
- Educate stakeholders including growers, consumers and decision makers
The goal of the WABA is to encourage cooperation among professionals who have an interest in animal biosecurity. This includes veterinarians, animal scientists, epidemiologists, researchers, microbiologists and professionals in allied industries, public health, social science and regulatory medicine.
In order to form the WABA Council, members from all regions of the world are invited to participate.
