Tyson Foods and Cal-Maine Foods Facing Class Action Lawsuit

06/24/2024 |
A class comprising 45 broiler growers contracted to Tyson Foods who raised broilers for the Dexter, MO complex have filed a class action lawsuit. At issue is the alleged failure of Tyson Foods to sell the complex to a competing broiler producer thereby depriving broiler growers of their income.
This is the second lawsuit filed against Tyson Foods alleging that the company encouraged contractors to make capital investments for upgrades in the knowledge that they intended to close the Dexter and Noel complexes.
It is questioned how Cal-Maine Foods is included as a defendant. This company acquired the assets of the Dexter Complex to be converted to egg production thereby restoring income to previous broiler growers willing to transition from raising broilers to producing eggs from barn-housed flocks.
