Access to the Port of Baltimore Reopened

05/28/2024

Following intensive and extensive deconstruction and demolition by various agencies and contractors, remnants of the Francis Scott Key bridge were removed this past week, freeing mv Dali and opening the channel to 700 ft. in width and to a depth of 50 ft.  Passage to and from the port of Baltimore was restricted following the March 26th collapse of a 1.6-mile section of the bridge after the mv Dali collided with a support column.

The Port of Baltimore supports 15,000 direct and 140,000 jobs in the state of Maryland.  The reopening was marked by resumption of cruises from the port, responsible for approximately $17 million in economic activity annually.
