Available ORO GLO® 50 will replace ORO GLO® 20 at the beginning of June. The new product provides the same level of pigmentation per gram as the previous ORO GLO® formulations but is more concentrated reducing the volume of inclusion in premixes. Effectively, the cost per gram of dietary pigment is lower than with ORO GLO® 20 but the cost per weight of the commercial additive is proportionally higher.
ORO GLO® is added to layer diets to enhance intensity of egg yolk color and to increase levels of lutein. The xanthophyll content of corn decreases during storage and therefore supplementation of diets containing “old crop” inventory is necessary commencing mid-year.
