Walmart Leads in Consumer Packaged Goods Sales

The Walmart share of consumer-packaged goods (CPGs) sold in the U.S. attained 21 percent according to a survey conducted by market research company, Numerator Inc. The second- ranked retailer was Costco at 8.8 percent, followed by Kroger at 7 percent, Amazon, 5 percent and Albertson’s, 4 percent. Costco is the dominant retailer of CPGs in the western region with a 16.4 percent share compared to Walmart at 15.5 percent. Numerator determined that 56 percent of expenditure on CPGs comprises food items.
