An extensive derecho impacted Illinois, Iowa and Indiana on Thursday, June 29^th, between noon and 14H00 CDT.  Although the storm was responsible for extensive damage to April-planted corn, it is possible that May-planted acreage will recover from lodging.  On the credit side, the storm brought rain to parched areas of the corn-belt that should be reflected in a positive evaluation of crop yield in the July WASDE and an assessment of quality in July crop progress reports and field evaluation from subsequent crop tours.
