According to a USDA-FAS GAIN report TW2022-0027 released on May 26th, the U.S. is now eligible to export eggs and egg products to Taiwan. Effective May 30th 2022, U.S. facilities are regarded as equivalent with respect to inspection and correspond to the regulations pertaining in Taiwan.
The decision by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration was based on an audit of the egg system in the U.S. and in-person inspection during 2019. Over the first quarter of 2022, Taiwan was not listed among the major importers of table eggs. Taiwan imported a nominal quantity of 207 metric tons of egg products during the first quarter with the prospect of increasing volumes shipped.
