USDA Announces Speakers for 2025 Agricultural Outlook Forum

The USDA 101st Agricultural Outlook Forum is scheduled for February 27-28, 2025, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA.  The theme for the forum will be “Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges, Today”.  The organizers announced that two prominent speakers will participate in addition to the presentations by agricultural economists affiliated with the USDA and academia.

 

Jeff Schmid, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will be the plenary speaker focusing on the macroeconomy and monetary policy.  His perspective as the CEO of the Tenth District of the Federal Reserve that encompasses the Midwest will provide an important perspective on agriculture.

 

Dr. Jim Pillen, Governor of Nebraska will be the dinner speaker on February 27th.  He will discuss building a biobased economy and enhancing agricultural productivity.  Dr. Pillen, a veterinarian is the owner of a family operated hog production company in his home state.

 

Dr. Seth Meyer, Chief Economist of the USDA will provide an outlook for the U.S. agricultural economy.  Other speakers will address commodity prices, global agricultural trade, mitigation of climate change and biotechnology.  The forum will be live screened and additional information is available at www.agriculturaloutlookforum/usda
